Description
A long-acting moxidectin injectable endectocide developed for extended parasite protection in dogs. ProHeart® SR-12 uses sustained-release moxidectin microspheres to provide 12 months of heartworm prevention from a single veterinarian-administered treatment.
It is indicated for the prevention of heartworm disease caused by Dirofilaria immitis in dogs. According to the product label, it also provides control of susceptible canine hookworms, including Ancylostoma caninum and Uncinaria stenocephala, at the time of treatment and for up to 4 months after administration.
The product contains moxidectin 100 mg/g in the microsphere formulation and, after reconstitution with the supplied sterile vehicle, produces a suspension containing moxidectin 10 mg/mL. Its sustained-release technology offers veterinarians a practical option for long-term heartworm prevention while reducing dependence on monthly owner-administered preventives.
